What we collect, and what we don’t

The short version

We do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone. We collect the minimum needed to know whether anybody is reading, and to send the guides to people who asked for them. There are no advertising trackers on this site, and no third-party ad network.

When you read the site

Cloudflare Web Analytics — always on

Counts page views, referrers and countries. It sets no cookies and does not fingerprint your browser, so there is nothing to consent to and nothing that follows you to another site. We cannot identify an individual reader from it.

Google Analytics — only if you accept

Google Analytics does set cookies, so it loads only if you chose “Accept” on the notice at the bottom of the page. It tells us which guides get read, how people arrive, and whether anyone clicks a gear link. IP addresses are anonymised before Google stores them.

If you declined, no Google script is loaded at all — it is not loaded and then told to behave. If you want to change your mind either way, clear your choice and show the notice again.

Google search ads

We sometimes pay for Salt and Snow to appear in Google search results. If you reach us through one of those ads, Google adds a click reference to the address. If you accepted Google Analytics, that tells us your visit came from an ad. No advertising tag loads on this site and we run no retargeting, so nothing follows you to other sites.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and the video on Cloudflare R2. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address, to serve the pages and block abuse.

When you send us a correction

The “tell us” form at the bottom of most pages posts to our own domain and our own database at Cloudflare. No third party is involved at any point — not on page load, and not when you press send. It is not a Google Form, a Typeform or an embedded widget.

We store what you typed, which page you were on, and a two-letter country code that Cloudflare already knows, which we use only to spot bot floods. We store your email address only if you chose to type one, and only so we can reply. There is no name field. We do not store your IP address.

Corrections are not published. They come to us, we check them against the operator’s own page or a government page, and if they hold up we change the guide. If you gave an email we will normally write back. You can ask us to delete what you sent at any time by writing to hello@saltandsnow.au.

When you give us your email address

The signup form goes to MailerLite, who store the address and send the emails on our behalf. We use it for one thing: an email roughly once a month when a new guide goes up. No selling, no passing it on, no sharing with any holiday park or retailer.

Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can also write to hello@saltandsnow.au and ask us to remove you, or to tell you what we hold about you, and we will do it.

Affiliate links

There are none on the site yet. When there are, they will be links to retailers who pay us a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We will only ever link to things we have actually bought and used, and the fact that a link is an affiliate link will be stated on the page it appears on.

Nobody pays us for a positive review. No holiday park has given us a free stay. If that ever changes, it will be written on the relevant page before you read a word of the review.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your email address, to anyone, for any amount.
• Run third-party advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
• Ask for personal details we have no use for.
• Publish photographs of other people’s children.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

Asking us about your data

Write to hello@saltandsnow.au. Ask what we hold, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. We will answer. If you are in Australia and you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Salt and Snow is a registered business name held by Rajeev Kumar Singh, a sole trader in Sydney, ABN 54 619 204 681. Post reaches us at PO Box 4019, Carlingford North NSW 2118.
